PTE Academic UKVI
The UK Home Office accepts PTE Academic UKVI (a SELT — Secure English Language Test) for visa applications including Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker, Innovator, and Family visas. Important: the standard PTE Academic is NOT accepted — you must specifically book "PTE Academic UKVI".

Skilled Worker Visa
- Standard requirement: CEFR B1 (PTE 43+ in each section).
- Health and Care Worker: CEFR B1 across all 4 sections.
- Some senior roles: CEFR B2 (PTE 59+) — check your sponsor's requirement.
Other UK Visa Categories
- Innovator Founder Visa: CEFR B2 (PTE 59+).
- Family Visa (spouse / partner): CEFR A1 to start (PTE 30+), B1 for indefinite leave to remain.
- Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement): CEFR B1 (PTE 43+).
- British Citizenship: CEFR B1 (PTE 43+).
Section Requirements
UKVI requires the CEFR level in EVERY section, not just overall. Failing one module pulls your application down even if your overall is high.
Booking PTE Academic UKVI
- Available at select Pearson test centres only — fewer locations than standard PTE Academic.
- Slightly higher fee than standard PTE Academic.
- Identical question format and content; the difference is regulatory (UKVI-approved test centre, additional ID checks).
Strategy
- Confirm with your sponsor exactly what level you need — B1 or B2 — before booking.
- Aim 1 CEFR level above the minimum to provide buffer.
- Drill your weakest section — UKVI doesn't look at overall, only section minimums.
