Pausing and Resuming Exams

Pausing Your Exam

Life happens, and sometimes you need to step away from an exam. ClearMyPTE allows you to pause and resume your mock exams without losing any progress.

How to Pause

Click the Exit button during any section of the exam. Your current progress — including all answered questions and your position in the exam — is automatically saved. You will be returned to the exam listing page.

How to Resume

When you are ready to continue, go to the Mock Exams page. Your paused exam will show an "In Progress" status. Click on it to pick up exactly where you left off.

Important Details About Attempts

  • Attempts count on completion, not on start. Starting or pausing an exam does not use up an attempt. Your attempt is only counted when you fully complete the exam and submit it for scoring.
  • Single-attempt exams — For exams with only one attempt allowed, you can still pause and resume. However, once completed, you will not be able to retake it. The exam card will only show a "Resume" option, never a "Restart" option.
  • Multiple-attempt exams — You may retake these exams as many times as your plan allows, and each completion counts as one attempt.

We recommend completing exams in one sitting when possible to simulate real exam conditions, but the pause feature is there whenever you need it.
