Understanding Your Practice Scores

How Practice Scores Work

Every question you submit in Practice Mode receives a score, so you can track your improvement in real time. The scoring method depends on the question type.

AI-Scored Questions (Speaking & Writing)

Speaking and Writing questions are evaluated by ClearMyPTE's AI scoring engine. The AI analyses multiple dimensions of your response:

  • Speaking — Transcription accuracy, pronunciation, oral fluency, and content relevance.
  • Writing — Grammar, vocabulary range, spelling, content quality, and form (e.g., word count, sentence structure).

AI scoring may take a few moments to process. You will see a brief "Scoring in Progress" indicator while your response is being evaluated.

Automatically Scored Questions (Reading & Listening)

Reading and Listening questions are scored instantly based on your selected answers compared to the correct answers. You see the result immediately after submission, along with the correct answers for review.

The PTE Score Scale

All scores are presented on the standard 0-90 PTE scale, matching the real PTE Academic exam. This means your practice scores give you a realistic indication of where you stand, helping you identify strengths and areas for improvement before taking a full mock exam.
