Highlight Incorrect Words — Click As You Hear
1 min read
What is Highlight Incorrect Words?
You see a transcript while audio plays. The transcript has several words that DON'T match what is spoken. Click each incorrect word. Tests Listening.
Format & Timing
- Audio: 15–50 seconds with multiple errors in transcript
- Number of errors: 4–7 typically
- Time per question: ~1.5 minutes (mostly the audio)
Scoring (Negative Marking)
- +1 for each correctly clicked incorrect word.
- -1 for each correctly-matched word you wrongly click.
- Minimum 0 per question.
The Real-Time Click Rule
- Read the transcript at audio pace. Your eyes move with the speaker.
- Click each mismatch the INSTANT you hear it. Hesitation = miss the next mismatch.
- Never go back. Audio plays once and the transcript continues — going back to a missed word means missing more.
Strategy
- Position cursor at the start of the text before audio begins.
- Use peripheral vision — read 2–3 words ahead of where the audio is.
- If unsure, DON'T click. A wrong click costs a point.
Common Mistakes
- Going back to confirm a previous word — you miss the next 5 seconds of audio.
- Clicking words you "kind of think might be wrong" — negative marking punishes guesses.
- Reading too far ahead — you lose sync with the audio.
