How accurate is ClearMyPTE AI scoring vs the real PTE?

Our internal benchmarking against thousands of users who shared their official Pearson score reports shows our AI predictions are typically within ±5 points on Speaking and Writing, and within ±2–3 points on Reading and Listening (which are largely auto-marked using deterministic rules — much closer to Pearson's own algorithm).

The match is tightest in the 50–79 score range. At the very top end (85+) and very bottom (below 36), our model can drift slightly because there is less training data at those extremes.

Why is there any gap at all?

Pearson uses a proprietary scoring model trained on millions of test takers and hundreds of acoustic features. We can closely approximate but not perfectly replicate it. Read How AI Scoring Works for the technical detail.

When should I book the real exam?

Book when your predicted overall score is consistently 5+ points above your target, across at least two recent mock attempts. That buffer absorbs the AI gap and the inevitable test-day nerves. See Practice vs Mock Score Variance.
