Why Phone Number Is Locked by Default

Your phone number is verified by WhatsApp OTP at signup and acts as a primary identifier on your ClearMyPTE account. Locking it prevents account-takeover scenarios where an attacker who briefly accesses your email could move login credentials to a phone they control.

Why You Might Need to Change It

  • You changed mobile providers and your old number has been deactivated.
  • You moved countries and your old number no longer receives WhatsApp messages.
  • You initially signed up with a temporary or family member's number.
  • The original number was a typo and you only realised after verification.

How to Request a Phone Number Change

  1. Email support from your registered email address with the subject "Phone number change request".
  2. Include your current phone number (the one on your account) and the new phone number you want to switch to, both with country code.
  3. Attach proof of ownership of the new number:
    • A screenshot of a recent SMS sent to the new number from any service (with timestamp visible), or
    • A photo of your government ID linked to the new number where applicable.
  4. Be ready to receive a WhatsApp OTP on the new number as part of verification.

Country Code Change Affects Currency

Your account currency is partially driven by your phone country code. Changing from a +91 (India) number to, say, a +61 (Australia) number can shift your default billing currency from INR to AUD on future renewals.

  • Existing wallet balance stays in INR — and remains usable only on INR orders. See wallet credit from referrals.
  • Active subscriptions stay on their original currency until renewal.
  • GST stops applying once you switch off an Indian phone number — see GST on Indian payments.

If you want to keep INR billing despite changing your phone country, mention this in your support email so we can pin the currency preference manually.

Processing Time

Most phone change requests are completed within 24–48 hours. You will receive an email confirmation when the change is live, and your next login will use the new WhatsApp OTP.
