There is no limit on the number of times you can take PTE Academic. Pearson allows you to attempt the test as many times as you need to reach your target score. Some of our users take it 5–6 times before hitting 79; others get there on attempt one. Both are fine. The one constraint: you must wait until your previous score has been released before you can book the next attempt . Score release takes 24–48 hours typically, occasionally up to 5 business days. So in practice, the minimum gap between two PTE attempts is around 5 days, although you can often book back-to-back tests separated by less if you time it well.

Does each attempt cost the full fee?

Yes. Each PTE booking is charged at full price (~$200 USD or equivalent in your local currency). There are no "second attempt" discounts. Budget accordingly — if you suspect you may need 2–3 attempts to reach your target, factor that into your prep timeline.

Will universities see all my attempts?
